The plain terms of working with us.
Written the way we'd want to read them ourselves: short, honest, no fog.
Effective September 3, 2026. If this page changes, the date changes with it.
Who this covers
These terms apply to anyone using cooperage.works, requesting a call, or using a Cooperage Assistant (like the Email Assistant). By using the site or an Assistant, you agree to them. If you're setting something up on behalf of a business, you're confirming you have the authority to do that.
What we provide
Cooperage builds and runs small, specific automations for owner-led businesses, starting with the Email Assistant: it watches an inbox you choose, drafts replies to messages that have sat too long, and saves those drafts for your review. It never sends anything on its own. Other Assistants work the same way: narrow, specific, human-approves-before-anything-happens.
Your account access
If you connect a Gmail or Microsoft 365 inbox, you're granting a limited, revocable OAuth permission directly through Google's or Microsoft's own consent screen, not handing us a password. You can revoke that access at any time from your own account settings, no need to ask us first, though we'd appreciate knowing so we can turn off the automation cleanly on our end too. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what that access does and doesn't cover.
What the Assistant will and won't do
It will read the inbox you point it at and save draft replies. It will not send email, touch pricing, contracts, or refunds, delete anything, or take any action you haven't explicitly asked for in your setup answers. If something looks ambiguous or risky, it's built to stop and flag it rather than guess.
Your responsibilities
Review drafts before sending them. The Assistant writes in the voice and within the limits you set, but you're the one who decides what actually goes out, every time. Keep your account credentials secure the same way you would for any other app you've connected. Tell us if something looks wrong so we can fix it.
Payment and cancellation
Fees, if any, are agreed on directly with you before work starts; nothing here overrides that agreement. You can cancel or revoke access at any time, as described above. We don't lock you into a contract that outlives your interest in the service.
No guarantees, plainly stated
We build carefully and test what we ship, but software has edges. We don't guarantee the Assistant will catch every email or that a draft will always be perfect; that's exactly why every draft waits for your review before anything sends. We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service, to the extent the law allows us to say that.
Changes
If we change what an Assistant does in a way that matters, we'll tell you before it changes, not after. If we update these terms, the date at the top changes with it.
